Saraswati Puja 2010 – Saraswathi Pooja 2010 dates

Saraswati Puja, also spelt as Saraswathi Pooja, is observed on Basant Panchami day. Saraswati Puja 2010 date is January 20. This festival is observed with lot of gusto in Bengal, Orissa and other Eastern regions of India. Saraswati puja day marks the beginning of Basant rithu (spring season). It falls on Magh Shukla Panchami day. It is also known as Shri Panchami or Saraswati Panchami. It is believed that on this day Goddess Saraswati was born, hence Shri Panchami is also celebrated as Saraswati Jayanti.

Saraswati puja day falls in Falgun month as per Bengali calendar. It is also celebrated in Nepal and Bangladesh to worship Saraswati Mata. Men and women clean their houses and install the idol of Goddess Saraswati and start worshipping with shodashopachar puja. They keep books, pens and other stationery items in front of the Goddess worship along with Mata.
