Paush Month 2009 – Poush Maas in North Indian Hindu Calendar

Paush month or Poush maas is the 10th month in traditional North Indian Hindu calendar. In 2009, Paush month starts on December 3, 2009 and ends on December 31. Poush maas is considered as inauspicious month as per Hindu astrology. North Indian Hindu calendar is followed in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and some other North Indian states.

Paush Navratri is celebrated during the month of Poush. This 9-day festival is also called as Shakambari Utsav or Sakambari Navratri in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and some South Indian states like Karnataka.

Paush Krishna Paksh begins on December 3, 2009 and ends on December 16, 2009

Poush Shukla Paksh begins on December 17 and ends on December 31, 2009

On the last day of Paush month, Paush Purnima day, in 2009, Chandra Grahan will take place. It is partially visible in India.
