Kanya Puja is an age old ritual performed during Durga Navarathri. Kanya is a virgin girl who has not attained maturity. During Navrathri, each day a girl is worshipped. Nine days nine girls are worshipped. It is believed that Virgin girls are more energetic in terms of Spirituality than Suvasini women (married women) Kanyas are worshipped and offered new clothes and food.
