Khairatabad Ganesh idol, the world famous Ganapati idol of Hyderabad, holds 1,622 kgs laddu for Ganesh Chaturthi Navratri 2011. The 1,622-kg laddu will be placed in the palm of the 53-foot Mammoth Ganesh idol on Ganesh Chaturthi day (September 1, 2011).
This huge laddu is popularly known as ‘Thapeshwaram laddu’ as it was made in Tapeswaram near Kakinada. This laddu is made by Mr Mallikarjuna Rao, owner of Suruchi Foods, a store well-known for Tapeshwaram kaja.
Last year’s laddu of 500 kgs was prepared using sugar and other ingredients, has had a radius of 3.5 feet.
This year, Khairatabad Ganesh Utsava samithi will auction the laddu on the day of immersion.
The other special attraction of Khairatabad Ganesh idol 2011 is the 20-foot agarbatti which is made by Cycle company. This incense stick continuously burns for 2 days.
